Limited Edition Giclees
We
are pleased to offer a growing selection of Limited
Edition canvas giclees (pronounced "gee-clay"),
which are produced directly from Anita's original
paintings. Each edition is strictly limited to 100
copies plus Artist's Proofs, and the pieces are hand
signed, numbered and dated.
The giclee process involves close collaboration between
the artist and the printer, and is quite different
from offset lithography, as no films or plates are
used in the process. The original painting is
scanned into a computer and that image then is printed
directly onto 100% acid-free canvas. At this point
the artist and the printer work together to adjust
the color balance to match the original as closely
as possible. Several test canvases are printed,
and from this group the artist chooses the "Artist's
Proofs" (usually two to four in number).
These are the pieces that are used by the printer
to match every single giclee in the print run of 100
copies, and these are the pieces that later become
the most collectable of the entire print run.
The printer used to produce these giclees offers a
much higher resolution than any other process available
today. A fine stream of UV protective archival ink
is sprayed, more than four million droplets per second,
onto specially treated canvas from six separate spray
nozzles: Each nozzle produces a combination of 512
chromatic changes, with over three million color possibilities
from the combined six nozzles. The result is a razor
sharp image with extreme depth of color, bright highlights
and highly defined contrasts. Each canvas is
then sealed to protect from UV rays. The result
is a collector quality work of art that you will be
proud to pass on generation to generation. Every
Limited Edition canvas giclee comes with a special
Certificate of Authenticity that is signed and dated
by the artist.
